An Open Letter To Educators
In her blog post, Morgan Bayda wrote her reaction to an ingenious video by Dan Brown, a student who dropped out of school because he claimed his "schooling was interfering with his education." She agrees with many of Dan Brown's opinions and voices that she too has felt cheated by universities in the manner they consume your money with textbooks and seemingly useless lecture courses. While she does says she wouldn't have dropped out of school, she is proud to admit that she also wishes to accept the inevitable change that is currently dawning on us, which is also inescapable.
I had the same ideas on the post because it has been the same way for me. In some classes that students take it feels like we are just being lectured to in others I have it is different because teachers care than those. We do need to change how we learn and think with all the assets out in the world. I really wish classes would be smaller and professors would learn your name. All in all you had great points on both the video and Morgan's post.
ReplyDeleteDan Brown's video was definitely one of those eye opening videos. I also wouldn't drop out of school because of the value of a degree but I do feel like Universities basically sell you information at an extremely high price that you already have access to on the internet and in the library. The only difference between learning something from the internet and learning it from a University is that you have a degree to show for what you've learned from a University, which costs you roughly $40,000.
